Now in the shadow of Mamta
Former Union Minister of State for BJP and Asansol MP Babul Supriyo on Saturday left the Bharatiya Janata Party and joined Mamata Banerjee’s Trinamool Congress. He joined the Trinamool Congress in the presence of party’s national secretary Abhishek Banerjee and Rajya Sabha MP Derek O’Brien. In its official statement, the Trinamool Congress said, “We welcome him on this special occasion.” Political veterans as well as retired IAS officers are tweeting a lot on this move of Babul Supriyo.
Congress leader Imran Pratapgarhi shared a picture of Babul Supriyo on his Twitter handle, in which he was seen with Derek O’Brien and Abhishek Banerjee. Sharing this picture, he wrote, “Babul is now in Mamta’s shadow.” On the other hand, Congress leader Mukesh Sharma termed this move of the former Union Minister as a countdown for the BJP.
Mukesh Sharma in his tweet on Babul Supriyo joining TMC wrote, “BJP countdown begins. BJP MP Babul Supriyo has left the BJP, not politics. Former IAS officer Surya Pratap Singh took a jibe at Babul Supriyo’s move and wrote, “Babul Mora, Naihar chhoto hi jaye. Have you played.”
Apart from this, filmmaker Ashok Pandit expressed his displeasure over this move of Babul Supriyo. He tweeted and wrote, “I always used to say that Babul Supriyo does not deserve to be in BJP. His entire contribution during his tenure in BJP was just a disaster.”
Let us inform that after the expansion of the Union Cabinet, Babul Supriyo had resigned from the post of Union Minister. A few weeks later, he also announced to break his ties with politics.
Babul Supriyo had said that he had had differences with some BJP leaders even before the West Bengal assembly elections. These differences between him and senior leaders were hurting the party.
