8 out of 60 apps have Chinese control

The report says that currently at least 8 of the top 60 apps in India are controlled by China. These apps are reaching a total of 211 million users every month. However, when Chinese apps were banned last year, during that time i.e. in July 2020, there were 96 million users of these apps. In such a situation, 115 million new users have been created in the last 13 months.

Last year, the Indian government banned 267 Chinese apps in India under the IT Act X 69A. Due to the border and diplomatic tension between India and China, in the year 2020, the government had TikTok, UC Browser, PUBG, Helo, Alixpress, Likee, Shareit, Mi Community, Baidu, Bigo Livem, Wechat, Cam Scanner and some of the apps of Xiaomi.

In the last one year, the number of users of these apps is increasing every month to 211 million. However, these apps have gone unnoticed upon entering the new avatar.

Most companies have attempted to hide their Chinese connections, listing their apps with new company names. However, before installing the app from Google Playstore, make sure to check its name and developer company name.
