Bappi Lahiri, known as the ‘Gold Man’ of Bollywood, introduced Hindi cinema to a different type of music. His music had a western touch which attracted a lot of youth. His songs like ‘Disco Dancer’ and ‘Jimmy Jimmy’ are still considered iconic. Famous singer, dancer Michael Jackson was also a big fan of Bappi Lahiri’s songs. Both of them met for the first time because of ‘Gold’ which was mentioned by Bappi Lahiri on ‘The Kapil Sharma Show’.


He told that when Michael Jackson came to Mumbai, he met him for the first time. One of his chains containing Ganpati’s picture was liked by Michael Jackson and from there the conversation started between the two. Bappi Lahiri had told, ‘When he came to Bombay. I was sitting in one place. Michael Jackson arrived. His eyes fixed on my Ganpati chain. Said- Oh my God, Fantastic. What is your name? I told that I am Bappi Lahiri. Then you ask are you a composer?’


Bappi Lahiri further said, ‘I said yes, I am a composer. I have made a disco dancer. As soon as I spoke to the disco dancer, he said that I like your song ‘Jimmy Jimmy’.


Bappi Lahiri told during this time that his jewelry includes a gurdwara kada, which he wears all the time. While narrating the anecdote behind it, he had said that when his first film, ‘Zakhmi’ became a super hit, his mother had taken a string from the Golden Temple in Amritsar. Bappi was worn by her mother and she has always considered that string lucky, so she always wears it in her hand.


Let us tell you that recently there have been unconfirmed reports about Bappi Lahiri’s health that his voice has gone. Rumors arose that Bappi Lahiri was ill, which affected his voice. Terming these rumours as false, the musician made a post in which he wrote that such news has hurt him. He wrote in his post that he is completely fine and he is very sad to read such fake news.
